I figured since I so firmly believe in the right to freedom of expression and that Iranians are being prosecuted for it, I’d express my opinion about the current situation regarding the burning of Khomeini’s picture and the arrest of people for that crime a little more vividly. Even though I believe the Green Movement protesters didn’t do it, I felt the need to express my opinion anyway. Here goes.

(The word in Persian in the pictures means Executioner, I forgot to type the ‘X’)

(Also don’t mind the flip-flops; and now you know where the *attic* is.)

Enjoy!

    Well done! (No pun intended)

Vicarious visual therapy for the masses. Awesome.

I have no idea who burned the picture of Khomeini in the controversial video or why, but if the Greens say it wasn’t them I believe them.

That said, I too feel strongly that it should not be against the law to burn any picture. That’s clearly an act of free speech, even if some religious authorities consider it blasphemous. You can’t have such a thing as being illegally rude in a free society. People have the right to insult their leaders as rudely as they need to in order to fully capture the level of their anger about something.

Leaders have a right to know if they’re doing a good job or not, and one way they can tell is by whether or not people are burning their picture. These kinds of displays are necessary for democracy to function properly.

i am positive that students tear Khomini’ picture and protesters broke another taboo of Islam and islamic republic.

  6. khomeini =pantheist KAFIR says:

    Allah curse and Damn Khomeini(LA)!!!!!!

but i dont see why the same applies for ataturk in secular anti-religion turkey but no condemnation on that!

  7. RBFG says:

If the Iranian gov allowed the pro-AN crowd to burn the US flag, why don’t they allow Khomeini’s picture to be burned?
